Post 3 months of data: Grandma's Garden game for kids

Hi, all,

I've posted an infographic on the App Store data for the first 3 months of our popular kids' game, Grandma's Garden. If any of you are interested in developing a game for a niche market, check out the numbers. I hope you find it useful; feel free to post questions/comments in this thread or on the blog.

Thanks!

I'm also interested in what kind of marketing you did, if any. 14k downloads @ 1$ in 3 months is quite good a for a kid's education app I guess, congrats!

interesting numbers for a niche market..

looking back at a dev time of 7 month for 2 developers would you consider this a financial success yet?

so faar you earned 680$ per invested month (before tax)

would be interesting to see how your sales go over the time.. and if you can establish a stable long tail

Default Marketing

We worked really hard on marketing... did a press release with PR mac, emailed our contacts in the industry, advertised on a few websites dedicated to reviewing family-friendly apps, and requested reviews at a lot of kid app websites. Here are just a few of the websites:

We generally develop 2-3 project simultaneously at all times (some contract work and some of our own games), and our development on Grandma's Garden was part-time. In actual hours, it generally costs about 8K-12K at the going development rate to create this kind of game. So, we've definitely passed our break-even point and will continue to be profitable from this point forward.

then this is good news.. alot of projects don't break even if they had a successful run.. hope your sales decline at a very slow rate , cheers for the info.
