I used to love playing war games on my computer during the 80's and 90's. Companies like SSI and Avalon Hill were old friends back then and hard core war games were almost a dime a dozen. I used to be perticuraly fond of Avalon Hill's games that included a real game board and pieces where the computer would play the aponent and handle the math. Lately I've been getting the urge to play some of these kind of games again thinking how perfect the iPad would be for this kind of medium, been wondering if there are any games like this on the app store. So far all I've found are RTS, Advance War clones and RISK clones, and while there's nothing wrong with those kind of games, they're not what I'm looking for.
Before giving up, I thought I'd check here and see if anyone knows if any old school turn based war games that are closer to older style war games? Preferably something that is WWII based, but I'll check out any period that fits this cetera. Thanks for any suggestion. Last edited by Gamer_Kev; 11-29-2012 at 07:07 PM.. |

Hi Kev,
We've released a couple of hex based strategy games on the iPhone / iPad: Tank Battle: 1944 and Civil War: 1863. (There is also a Lite version of Tank Battle: 1944 if you want to give it a try for free first). Last edited by Hunted Cow Studios; 11-29-2012 at 07:18 PM.. |
