Room Escape puzzle games have been a favorite of mine since the Crimson Room.
The Room doesn't quite fit that genre, but it seems to have been created in the same spirit. As the player, you are immersed in a mysterious world with a dark atmosphere, and you know nothing other than the fact that you must push forward by solving the puzzles in front of you. Most of the time you will be working to discover the contents of an intricate puzzle box with many moving parts. The game does a great job at teaching you the ways in which you can interact with the box, and leading you to some pretty satisfying "ah-ha" moments. Even if you get stuck, the game has a timed hint system that provides just the right amount of clues so that you won't feel as if it's hitting you over the head with the solution. Really great game, albeit way too short for my taste. However, this is only because I enjoyed it so much. One other issue that I found was that the touch controls were sometimes (very rarely) unresponsive or unwieldy. It's incredibly enjoyable overall, and I'd recommend it to all of my buddies. |

The iPhone 4 is still listed in the AppStore as supported device.

It isn't though. :/ Anyways, the game's free...there's no harm in trying to download it.

I don't know why Apple doesn't change this policy. It causes a lot of angst for users and devs alike. Back to The Room: I played the iPad version and loved it. Great, great puzzle game. Cheers. |

Getting an iPad in next few days - is this going to be better on iPad or do both versions hold their own ground irrespective of the other?

As with a number of other big names that have finally made it to the smaller screen recently (Bastion, Autumn Dynasty, etc.), this game does work solidly enough in its new format, but on the whole is still a better, more immersive experience on the iPad.
