So... the first quote says that it supports all the way back to the iPod 3rd gen, but the second quote says not supported on the iPod 4th gen... so, should I believe that it doesn't work on my 3rd gen device? AGH! I have been waiting to play this game!

If there's a difference between what the App Store says and the description says, always, always, ALWAYS believe the description. Apple only allows developers to select devices in groups, so they can't always specifically limit it to the devices the game will actually work on.
