Default Dual stick shooter needs art

Hi,

I'm working on creating a simple 2.5d dungeon crawler, hack-in-slash, top down scroller, dual stick shooter game. For a better idea of what I'm trying to do, look at Solomon's Boneyard.

The game will differentiate though the theme (not fantasy, dungeons) I'm thinking of something that will appeal to a larger audience like cartoonish animals (think angry birds).

The game will probably only have one character but will focus more on individual progression, rather than starting over each game. I see the appeal of games where you start over and try to get a higher score but its uncommon for you to progress much. For example if you play and get to level 20 instead of starting from level 1 again you can start from any level up to 20.

Anyway I need someone to help with the art of the game. This would be for a share of profits not paid upfront. If your just starting out and want to build a portfolio this might just be for you.

Thanks

I'm still looking for someone to join me and wanted to offer more of an explanation on what I'm trying to create. This is something I sent to a friend.

So I'm still trying to figure out a theme and other areas to differentiate in but I'm essentially trying to improve on this game: Solomon's Boneyard, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/solomons-boneyard/id387497198?mt=8

You can see in the 4th image a gameplay screenshot. It has a 2.5d thing going for it which I really like. It almost looks like the game is 3d with the way the wizard turns you can see all sides of their body (which isn't done in 2d games). But they use a set of images for each angle (every 12.5 degrees, left and right are flipped in code, so only angles for 180 degrees).

As you can see Solomon's Boneyard is pretty dark and ominous, I think if this style of game was made with colorful cartoon characters it would appeal to more players. I like the style of these games:

Fieldrunners: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fieldrunners-2/id527358348?mt=8
Clash of Clans: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clash-of-clans/id529479190?mt=8

Now I'm not sure if the models in these games are done with 3D or 2D sprites but for simplicity I want to use 2D. The size of those 2 games, 40mb+, while not required to have wi-fi to download, isn't really feasible on 3G. I want to keep my game as small as possible in size, there are tons of games/apps I don't download because the size (I don't think it's just me that does that).

Back to the theme of my game I was thinking of maybe doing a farmer fighting off rats, birds, bears, and other animals that try to eat his crops. Though I think we would be limited in weapons and upgrades there, but maybe the farmer is a tinkerer and has some cool steampunk stuff.? Or a cartoon soldier (fieldrunners) and is just fighting bad guys. If you're into this and have any ideas you'd like to explore let me know.

contact me if you want to help make this.
