I picked it up and just finished my first game. Here are some brief notes:
- there is no stat tracking
- UI is ok. some things need explanation but there is a help system to explain what certain things mean (the "tutorial" doesn't necessarily explain what everything is). once a few things are cleared up using the app is a breeze
- a single game doesn't last very long. your goal is to colonize 4 planets before a number of different counters run out (the decisions you make throughout the game essentially are to counteract these stats from reaching 0).
- the desicions you want to make, to me at least, seemed a little too obvious. this is probably by biggest complaint about the game. it's very board gamey, and board games are about making the right decision - that decision shouldn't always be so obvious
i beat my first game, but barely (i think?). I was lucky and found my last 2 planets right at the last second. It can get difficult to manage your hull, energy, etc while still moving around and exploring. Right now though it feels a little too easy, and too flat. There is room here for improvement, though. I'd give it 3.5 stars. I'll probably round up to 4 for the App Store to encourage people to get it.
In the end, I'll probably play a few more games to see if it's really too easy or if I was just lucky. Then I'll hope to see an update with more stuff to do! I don't regret the purchase, but I won't exactly be playing this every moment of every day (like what happened with FTL...).
