For level ups you mean? At first you want a couple points of luck just to get the extra HP per potion. that's just essential so you can survive. After that I tend to focus on dexterity until my bonus armor chance is maxed. I rarely take defense or dexterity after I've maxed out the bonus chance though. In general if you are getting a quarter of your max armor per shield you are fine. It's better to pump up your health and damage.

Defense only helps you collect more armor per shield. Once your armor is fully repaired it has no effect on how much the upgrade bar is filled... so it doesn't boost the dazzle/scavenge/boost armor combo at all so it's a waste to pump it up too high. I wasted an entire game once pumping everything into defense but my number of upgrades per combo didn't go up so I'm pretty sure that's how it works

Awesome thanks. I always wondered if defense helped with upgrading quicker.

I was taking the approach of using Halfling + Masochism (sounds suspect, doesn't it?) to use the racial ability: kill 15+ enemies (lots of coins -> skulls, then whack them). This ups total defense number by one, right? I got my best score going for a defensive style build in that manner, but found that I pooped out on the offense end quickly when I couldn't kill the skulls in one shot (the return hit of a near-screenful of skulls is a whopper ).

Am I making the wrong approach? Masochism + skill pot + teleport + repair, if I can manage it. This game is great, I keep coming back to it

Honestly I couldn't say as I haven't played your build before. Also who is to say which build is better than another? Your approach is definitely an interesting one that should get you a lot of armor. My only worry would be when one of the specials who effects armor drops down. I tried a very armor heavy build once and I got into a lot of trouble when i couldn't kill monsters in one go (as you pointed out yourself) and the armor killing specials were the death of me. Most of my current builds have really focused on offense. I know that sounds backwards since I'm advocating the boost armor/scavenge/dazzle combo but that combo is all about getting a ridiculous number of upgrades... most of which I focused on damage or life.

Also... just to be clear... my previous post that you quoted was specifically for the boost armor/dazzle/scavenge build. I don't think it will apply to your build (although I do suggest taking a couple points of luck early on regardless of your build).

Hey all! I'm away on holidays for the next week and a bit with limited internet access so won't be checking on this thread until I'm back (will still be checking support email whenever I can). Good news is the next update has been submitted and should hopefully be out early next week. Included are some small bug fixes, an expanded local high score page and the first two new game modes

Yeah, right now Rune needs the start & end of the path to be touching, but I'll probably change it to cover the case in your screenshot and make it give double a bonus to tiles inside to make it more useful

In rush mode, the game is no longer "turn based", and you must make chains as fast as possible. Enemies attack on a timer, so if you don't act fast enough, they will keep attacking you. For example, let's say enemies have a 5 second timer, and every 5 seconds they will attack you. You have to kill them off faster than that. The only times that the game would "pause" is when picking something to buy, upgrades, level up and when you open the Status menu.

I think this kind of a game mode would certainly add a lot more excitement to this game
Ooh yeah, someone already suggested a similar mode before and it's pretty high up on the list of ones I'd like to add, if only to see how hectic this game is in real time

Bah, don't you see?

This is proof the game is now updating itself and whether the dev is on vacation or not the game keeps on evolving!

FIRST two new game modes? (ie. more to come - so happy) Thank you. Can't stop playing this game (have sank more hours into it then any console game ever), yet more keeps coming. Several pages back I argued that I do not like IAP's, but now I'm feeling almost criminal only paying a couple of bucks for what has become a "new" AND "improved" game every couple of weeks (imagine if apple gave away next gen ipods for free because you bought the original).

which leads me to 2 rants:

1- there are only a handful of sites that reviewed this game and all of them did so when it was first released, so its metacritic score (for what it's worth) is lousy. They do not account for the massive recent updates.

2- There are over 160 pages in this forum for this game, and I'm going to assume lots of people enjoying it. Yet in the app store there are only 9 reviews.

Since we aren't asked to pay any more money, it would be a nice gesture to go rate and maybe even review it, which may lead to more sales and thus we are supporting the devs efforts.

Disclamiers:
- sorry if this is not the right place or bad protocol to rant
- I paid full price for this game and did not get a promo code
- I am in no way connected to the dev
- yes I did review it in the app store
- no I'm no where close to the top scores on the leaderboards

Which app store are you using? I just checked and Dungeon Raid is 5 stars with 116 ratings for the current version, 889 total. Otherwise, good points. I hope the app is selling well. It's not only a great game, the way the developer keeps adding to it and improving it is really pretty unbelievable.
