Super 8 was incredibly boring for me. It was pretty well made, I guess, but yeah, it just didn't do it for me. The plot was ridiculous. Green Lantern definitely deserves better ratings than what's it gotten so far. I liked it a lot more than Thor, which was rated infinitely better by critics all around. The only thing I didn't like was the monster..I mean really, what the hell is that thing? The evil scientist was just as bad. But other that, I found the movie highly enjoyable.

I loved Super 8. I thought it was really really really good. Except for a few things. One, how the hell is there a lense flare in a cave? Two, The moment where the boy connects to the monster was really stupid, and was weak. Three, its hard to believe that his mom worked at a steel mill. I loved the scene when they are rehearsing for the first shoot with Elle Fanning. She suddenly comes out as this all natural actress and Abrams let the recognition rush across the other kids faces just as it rushes across ours. And it shows some of the faults of film making because they missed, the camera wasn't running for that magical moment. Also, why didn't the locket fly out of his pocket right when the magnetic thing start, rather then a minute later? I also appreciated the movie during the credits. I also liked the fact it took 3 days to get their tape developed, and all of the aspects surrounding the kids really reminded me of my childhood.
In regards to the letting go theme at the end, I really liked it. There's been some backlash that its emotionless and had no real set up throughout the movie, and yes the kid was only upset for part of the movie, but he carried the locket around everywhere. The end got a bit dusty for me, but luckily no actual tears. Last edited by ibelongintheforums; 06-17-2011 at 08:12 PM.. |

Super 8 was not boring... it was all over the place.
I don't think I'll be seeing anything until Transformers, with a new release date a day earlier. Heck yeah! Then Harry Potter and Captain America. Movies this year has been kind of disappointing.. maybe it's just me. |

So I was watching J.J. Abrams' TED conference from awhile back (it's ironic 'cause J.J. Abrams is my favorite director ever and StumbleUpon just happened to give me his presentation to watch) and he said he loved Apple products and would sign on to watch every Steve Jobs' keynote and would read up on a bunch of things Apple, and I wondered what the odds were that he is here/ has visited T.A.? Especially with Hoddapp or Arn admitting that there were some celebrities who stopped by here before... I'd say there was a pretty good chance!
So watch whatch'ya say about Abrams' movies, 'cause he might be here watching, and planning on a way to kill / embarass you in his next movie

Omg. People who think celebrities visit TouchArcade are so annoying. If you actually think about it, you would realise how crazy it is to think that Justin Bieber or JJ Abrams visit this site. Just because Justin Bieber likes playing iPhone games or JJ Abrams likes Apple products does not mean they visit this site. JEEZ!

I just watched The Prestige. Christopher Nolan is one of the best directors around, joint first with Jerry Bruckheimer.
Christian Bale is also great, along with Michael Caine. The Prestige is in my top 3 all-time favourite movies. |
