Edit: I watched the video for a while and must say, that I do not see anything special in this game...
Musha (Aleste) on the Genesis/Megadrive was a special game, with better action in my opinion
I still have the US Version, despite the fact that I do not have a MegaDrive anymore

It's the scoring mechanics, the difficulty curve, and the skill-level and timing required to excell at the game. It requires diligence and practice to become good at it, but it's very rewarding when you overcome that plateau. Doesn't mean it's for everyone, but that's why it's a great game.

It's not a matter of whether this game is better than that game (although I own it too and would disagree), because that game is not available on iOS.
