App description: Follow the intricate paths of Celtic stones in an exciting race for the highest score.

Play numbered cards to move your figures as far as possible along the colored paths of stone and try to collect valuable wishing stones and bonus points on your way to beat your opponents!

A clever strategy playing your cards, collecting tiles and choosing paths and some luck of the draw lead to victory. Play as many cards as possible in the right order - but never lose track of your opponents' tactics!

Use the iPad like a game board: The "table mode" and the original graphics create an authentic board game atmosphere. Or play online with up to 3 other players via Game-Center and master even the most challenging achievements.

This faithful adaptation of the original Keltis board game includes the first path of the solitaire mode "Keltis Campaign" which offers a challenging single player experience with increasing difficulty and was created specifically for solo play by the game's designer Dr. Reiner Knizia.

But thats not all: The three remaining paths of the campaign can be unlocked via In App Purchase. The expansion set "New Challenges" is also available for download as InApp purchase directly from the game. It includes a completely new board layout with matched AI controlled opponents for hours of fun.

Features:

- New iPad optimized graphics
- Three difficulty settings for beginners and experts
- Easy rules based on the original board game
- Comprehensive tutorial
- Local table mode and online play for up to 4 players
- Game Center support: Global high score lists and 22 challenging achievements
- English and German language supported
- Three additional paths of the "Keltis Campaign" available as In App Purchase
- Expansion "New Challenges" available as In App Purchase

Thanks for the quick reply, LordGek and sizzlakalonji!

One more quick question...

I haven't upgraded to iOS 5.0 yet. Does the online multiplayer work with 4.x?

Thanks!

I have the iPhone version of Keltis. Is there currently a way to play that online through GameCenter? If so, I can't figure out how to start a game.

Current Favorites: Lords of Waterdeep, Ascension, Cafe International, Lost Cities, and Agricola.

I don't think there has ever been the option to play the iPhone version online. The game itself ist quite good and has a terrific AI, one of the best I've seen in Knizia apps. Quite on the contrary Keltis Oracle is the better real world board game, really one of Reiner's best, but the respective app severely lacks a good computer opponent, so if you're looking for satisfying solo play you have to buy the original Keltis here (especially the expansion 'New Challenges').

The only thing that stops me from buying the iPad version is that I would have to pay for solitaire and expansion IAPs AGAIN. When the iPhone version came out, I paid almost 8 Euros for basic game and expansions. I told myself then, come on, the NDS version is 20 bucks! But that does not mean, I'd do it again. Plus: the iPhone version never had a kind of save state. In times of multitasking perhaps no prob, but I hate that I cannot quit an app in the midst of a game. This is antiquated, and I doubt the iPad app will be better in that regard. USM support is negligible, it took them almost a year to iron out the bugs in the iPhone Keltis.

Now playing: Shadowmatic, Waterdeep, PvZ2, Kami, Lost Cities
Waiting for: Love you to bits, Lumino City, Onirim

The basic Keltis game forces you to decide in advance which suit will be presumably the most successful. This color you will use to move your 'big' pawn which counts double. It's mostly a game of chance with mild strategical planning. In the much more interesting Keltis expansion, the paths change colors and there are special tiles allowing to remove cards. More info here:

On the other hand Keltis Oracle with people is a real treat- you have so many tactical options to play cards, there is the 'oracle' pawn, the leprechaun tiles, the clover tiles for multiple jumps, the spiral tiles allowing backward moves etc. Perhaps the Oracle app could be saved with online multiplayer. As it is, unfortunately it's not a real challenge. Why you are even allowed to see your opponents' hands, is a mystery to me, more a bug than a feature ;-) By contrast, the Keltis AI (on the iPhone at least) is VERY clever on 'hard' setting, comparable with very good human players.

I'm a little disappointed that there is no stat tracking for the main game.

Would anybody care to evaluate if the HD version will save your game state if you have to quit during a match? The iPhone version didn't.

It appears to, at least if just playing a local game. If I simply minimize it picks up right where I left off and if I fully exit (either by exiting to the Main Menu first or simply Home Keying out and then killing the app), once the app is loaded I see a "Continue" option.

Not sure if this will also work like this in the Campaign but expect it would be handled the same way (with each profile only allowed the one save from whichever mode they were last playing).
