Destructible environments: so simple, so effective. I will never, ever tire of this.

- FAMITSU
Very good work. Beautiful character design. Its well-adjusted difficulty makes it very addictive. Weapon changing provides for a high level of strategy.

A success in every way. Great atmosphere. Brilliantly adjusted gameplay. Probably the most standout WiiWare game on a technical level.

Looked the Wii version on Metacritic. Not many reviews...two good...one bad..from critics. But the user reviews were good.

One thing that bothered me though is the users said it's short. So we got:

- short
- repetitive
- lots of IAPs that hard difficulty seems to push you towards

The gameplay sounds good, but I don't know. Think I may just steer clear of this.

Not sure how they formatted the iOS version, but one frustrating thing about the Wii version was that enemies would often lob projectiles at you from off-screen. It's a cute game, and I was digging the art style and sensibilities, but it wasn't great, As a matter of fact, one of those reviews you mentioned might be mine. I think I reviewed it for Cheat Code Central when it released -- can't recall offhand.

I have the Wiiware version as well, and to be perfectly honest, it's not a very good game. It just isn't very fun, and it's extremely repetitive and dull.

I agree all the IAP is pretty bad. The full pack is super pricey and extra lives / grenades are consumed permanently. Even getting the full pack won't give you more grenades or lives. Everything is separate and not cheap.

However the sad thing is that this game is reeeeallly good. The level, enemy, and character designs are nice. Plus the music is nice with really simple and fun gameplay.
Yup, they nailed the gameplay and then butchered it with iAP. 8.99 for the all-in-one pack... So that's infinite ammo, lives, continues, characters and gamemodes - presumably that'll include survival when it's ready. Thing is, 8.99 wouldn't be terrible if it didn't remove the challenge of playing through the game...

So then there's 2.50 for just story mode - i assume you can unlock all characters by playing through etc, this seems like the best option, though it sounds as though by design, you'll probably have to buy extra lives.

I think i'll hold on for now

Made it to level 3-1 and have not unlocked anything, but yea, the game is pretty much impossible with the initial 1 life 1 continue they give.

I bought the whole unlock (I know, I know), and I can't imagine completing the story mode without the high powered weapons and unlimited continues. Even using the heavy weapons (which are awesome), the boss levels take a LOT of continues. I realize that the price was very high, but I liked the game and just decided to go for it.
