This would look stunning if it had an HD version, Hint Hint.

I want so desperately to be in love with this game. It looks fantastic, has the Metroid play style down, and seems to be huge. But the controls, argh. I understand how the stick works, but it feels like the game expects so much more than a fake stick can offer. The degrees of motion just do not work for me, I'm constantly running face first into enemies I'm trying to aim at, or perhaps even more frustrating, trying to aim at things that are at 20-25 degrees from the cardinal directions and failing miserably, having to sit for ages sliding my thumb in an unnatural arc to try to find the sweet spot, all in the middle of a firefight.
Maybe if a degree of auto-aiming [EDIT: and double tap auto-fire!] were added to the Casual mode it'd be more bearable, but as is I can't stand to play for more than a couple of minutes at a time before I get annoyed enough to quit and move on to something that feels more "comfortable". I haven't tried the Kongregate version yet, but if it eliminates the amount of fighting that has to be done with the controls just to get at the game then I can only imagine it being orders of magnitude better. The abstraction of the virtual stick just brings me right out of the experience. It'd be just about a perfect game on anything with physical controls--maybe the 3DS or something? Hell, a native PC version would work for me; anything I can plug a gamepad into, plus it'd be perfect on my netbook. I'll keep playing it because it's genuinely fantastic, and you guys are doing amazing work that I'm sure is appreciated immensely by those who can apparently wrap their heads around imaginary controls, but for me personally I can't see it ever becoming the obsession it could be on a more traditional gaming platform. Still, it runs surprisingly smoothly on my ancient 3G--though I have nothing to compare against--so that's lovely. Many much simpler games run like hell on the 3G, but you guys have put together something incredibly tight; my thanks for that. EDIT: More thoughts: an option to add a "lock movement" toggle above the jump button would be appreciated. This would prevent the occasional leap into a lava pit you're only trying to aim at, etc. by taking some of the pressure off the virtual analogue stick. Also, I'll just leave this here: ![]() It's entirely possible to run the embedded file from Kongregate directly. I finished Inception like this using a GlovePIE script to control it with a gamepad with a scheme closely mimicking Super Metroid. Absolutely fantastic. Sol is this worth a purchase even if the devs abandoned the game and the story is unfinished?

Hm.. not at its current price. I'd wait for it to drop back down to $0.99.

With Metroid Zero Mission being my all-time favorite platformer, I am always excited to those who pay homage to the almighty Metroid series. I just hope Nintendo doesn't come after you for copyright infringement

It's been two years and nothing so far. Anyway, usually things are taken down from the app store pretty quickly.

So has this game been abandoned? There hasn't been anything on it in over a year. I loved this game too!

I'm still waiting for the Ep 2. I won't lost my hope (although I searched in every place I found and found nothing about the Ep 2
).

Lmao... Guess I can go ahead and say this now.
I worked on the soundtrack for GRID, the Grokion side-project/training game. The developers gave up on the game over a year ago. Episode 2 is not coming.... Sorry. |
