Overall gameplay is great for a shmup, hats off to the devs for that. Collecting coins is addicting as ever, even if auxiliary items and high-tier planes are unreasonably priced.
There are however, a few features that rubs me the wrong way. The second stage of ship type bosses, especially the aircraft carrier on Mission 2, have many turrets placed in the bottom quarter of the screen. This sets up too many cheap shots imo. Plus, the two top cannons on the ship send out continuous streams of bullets which generates a constant, unbroken line of bullets making it nigh possible to escape to the other half of the screen unscathed. The price for auxiliary items is also quite unreasonably high. I appreciate the game giving out 3 bombs per life and occasional pickups, but the other powerups are too expensive to warrant their price tag (esp invincibility). |

Excellent shmup!
Graphics 4*: don't know if it's retina HD but definitely HD. Animation 4.5* buttery smooth. May be 60fps. Models: 4.5*. Love the battleships! Backgrounds: 4*. Ocean wake looks great. Land also. Water doesn't really animate, just sparkles. Difficulty 4.5*. Just right. Overall 4.25*. Easily best WW2 shmup. Comparison with Astrowings2. This is FAR SUPERIOR. Highly recommended! I like the game, very hard though.
But the IApp is a joke... I've spent quite a while in the game, and haven't got money to upgrade my ship yet. The prices for bombs and superweapons are insane, and you'd have to play for weeks on end just to purchase the rest of the ships and fit it with extra weapons, which, by the way is disposable. It really needs a lot of tweaking on the in game prices, I feel a bit offended that I feel forced to pay IApp to really enjoy the game in full, when I've already paid for the game. Also, this game is not really universal. There's a big black border around the game on the iPad, not just iPad3. |

Version 1.2 is available now!
No more black borders on the iPad! In this version, we've also tweaked the difficulties of the game, easier game play with all missions for Easy and some missions for Normal. We've also added a lot more power-ups. It wasn't our intention to make the game very hard so we can get more IAP sales. Our games have always been challenging in the past.
