Avernum - HELP

I've been putting in a lot of time with this game and I'm stuck. I cannot seem to locate Cortath or his hut to get the recipe for Graymold Salve.

Can anyone help?

Take a boat and follow the river south from Fort Draco. There's a clearing with a hut and a small lake to the west of the river that you should be able to see from the river.
