Ok - I totally have to stop playing this game.
But once I reached level 100 on one of the characters, I had to grind through the others ...

This shows one of every class at level 100 (except the cleric).
Oakley the Ranger is the best, so I use him to help the others level up, hence level 111.
Lucille the Cleric I find is least useful, as enough classes have healing and trinkets do the trick too (Trollskin amulet and Kaimanis Bloodstone).
The others are level 30, but they are duplicate characters, so not worth levelling (although the Barbarians are pretty awesome, so I might continue with that level 51 dude).

Next task - see who survives the longest in the Doomvale arena without me intervening, and grind the good gear.

How to grind the chars to high level ..
Once you have some reasonable level chars (level 30+) and have beaten the boss, then I switch them to any passive skills, and regeneration trinkets if needed (but the Mystery Egg is best for the XP gain).
Then I get them going in the third area (Doomvale), on The Frozen Abyss (the first of the bottom row). This level has no slimes and you can hopefully leave the character to win the battle. If one char dies, then no problem as the XP is divided amoung the survivors, so the remaining chars get more XP.

It gets rediculous after about level 90 - it takes about 35 games to level up, and about 50 games to level up from 99 to 100.
Plug the ipod charger in to keep it charged by your work desk, and every 10 mins launch the next battle. grind grind grind for weeks on end. : )

How much time did you train your characters?

Well 24th Jan was when I got that Ranger up to level 100, and 11th of April I got the others up to level 100.
So it was probbly about 1 week for each character.
My iPod was running at work for 6 or so hours, and I would tap the BATTLE > FROZEN ABYSS > START! buttons every 15 mins or so and then leave it.
So far too many hours. : )

As a side note the Choose a Save File screen shows the wrong value for the hours played.
I was on 146:00:53 when I first got to level 100.
Now it shows as 149:39.45 which is very untrue. I think the decimal points get thrown out after about 140 hours

Thanks Grelb! I leveled my characters to 80+ by farming the last boss. While that method is faster, it also requires me to be focusing all of my attention on the game. I'm going to use your method when I'm doing other stuff, and I'll do boss farming when I'm only playing BH. Level 100 doesn't seem so far anymore.

I just noticed this issue when I hit ~145h. The timer slows down considerably, with 20m sessions only increasing the timer by 1m or so.
