Having played a bit I'm liking it a lot so far!
While the roguelike description is apt, it also could be seen as a Robots game (with every step you take the monsters also all take a step) with a bunch of fun tools (not just the sonic screwdriver or limited teleports). Killing monsters in this game gains you nothing in itself, just a necessity to survive onto the next room or grab some key item dropped somewhere on the level. Your score is based on how far you make it into the lair (dying on the 5th level nets you a score of 5), but if you manage to make it all the way to the Cortex and destroy him you'll get a nice little bonus based on how many items you still have on your person (there may be other bonuses at that point as well, like your remaining health, but I'm not sure). Pure retro cheese in a can, 5/5!

Anyone else get that warm fuzzy, I mean, cold dark space feeling, as in the artwork reminds you of The original Metroid? Great atmosphere. Digging the soundtrack.
Easy to play, tough to master. I'll figure out the enemy movements just yet. |

I'm finding the controls a bit iffy but liking the game nonetheless. I don't think it necessarily needs a D-pad (as some of the iTunes reviews suggest) but could use some fine-tuning.
Am I the only having slight issues with the controls? |

Nah, they're a little confusing to me as well (like trying to exit the level) but I'm curious, am I missing how one simply stays in place for a turn or can't that be done?

Only way seems to be by using an item.

Hmmm... downloaded this yesterday since it looked good, and was immediately underwhelmed. So much so that I decided to not even create a thread since I figured no one would be into it (not a single other person posted, as far as i can remember, on the last streamlined roguelike I remember a thread about, and I liked that one better). Anyway maybe I'll give it another whirl since people seem to be enjoying it.

This is a great game. Probably my favorite roguelike on iOS right now. Takes 15 minutes to play a full game, does a great job of generating interesting situations despite its simplicity, fair, very high replay value.

Heck yeah, this game is so minimalistic, streamlined, and brutal but still incredibly compelling!
