Couldn't come soon enough!

Though I still wish the gameplay had more depth in it. Some aerial maneuvers would've made combat more exciting.

Improved gameplay should come with the 1.2 update.

The next one, the 1.1.5, is mostly a graphics and performance improvement.

1.1.5 is finally out !

We added new planes, changed the flight model for the helicopter-like vehicles (were just too hard during battle), improved the looks of the UI, improved the explosion effects, improved the audio, reduced the disk usage, added a new sound track and new iPad Retina support.

Any core gameplay changes, or are they coming in the next update?

I think Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy would be more fitting for the latter . Aerial combat in this game simply lacks flair compared to SG:AS.

No core gameplay changes for this release. But we plan on adding some major bosses for the 1.2.

I only saw some videos of SG.. but frankly, considering the amount of hype, support form Apple and the finances that must have gone to the development.. I think that it could have looked better.. and the action seems somewhat slow.

It's a matter of personal taste as well.. they have some nice effects for the high end systems and I also like the non-Fractal terrain and the colorful (if static) skybox.. but the explosions look cheap and the HUD is a bit of a toy.

But I'm obviously biased

Yeah, it's slower compared to Fractal Combat, mainly because there's a more realistic (though still arcadey) flight model and lacking any sense of speed.

Graphics wise, I don't (really) care. All I want to say is they were alright.

The gesture maneuvers and flares brought quite a lot of action into aerial combat. Dodging missiles could be done in at least 3 ways and each successful evasion (and missile hit) felt satisfying.

Then again, each game to their own merits, I can't help but feel Fractal Combat's combat system being quite bare bones compared to virtually all others bar none. It's fast and fun, but ultimately, too shallow to withhold any interest for long, extended play.

All those being said, I still appreciate Fractal Combat's missile trails above those in SG:AG .
