"For those of a certain age who loved adventure game books, its the perfect app to play and one that players will find themselves returning to. Not least because theyll have to be pretty skilled to win!"

4 out of 5 stars - Jennifer Allen, 148 Apps.com

"I've been having a blast with this since it's essentially gameifies what runs through my head whenever I read or watch a piece of zombie content, but it's also solid production-wise. I heartily recommend this to anyone that still has an itch for zombies, or even an appreciation of primarily text-based titles."

~ 4/5 stars - Brad Nicholson, Toucharcade

"ZDAY is a 21st century text-based Simulator game that puts you the player in tough, real-world situations. The game play is easy and you can soon control it well."

~ 4/5 stars - Top10app.com

"4/5 Stars" - Dan Zuccarelli, Gamezebo.com

What better way to survive a full blown apocalypse than to PRACTICE? This is not a traditional shooter or an arcade style game where you poke buttons to shoot digital bullets at virtual zombies. ZDAY is a 21st century text-based Simulator that puts you the player in tough, real-world situations and says "what would YOU do?".

Created and Designed by Animator and Director Ed Anderson, and beautifully illustrated by renowned DC comics artist Matt Haley, ZDAY is an intelligent adventure game that starts you in a crowded suburb at ground zero of a full blown infection, and says "what would you do?". Faced with one scenario after another, the player has to make choices that will either lead him to escape the zombie-filled suburbs or perish like so many others. The sophisticated game engine keeps track of every decision that you make, and keeps a running tab on your survival probability based on the choices you make.
So keep your wits about you, and choose carefully, because one wrong move could have you facing a zombie horde or roving bands of trigger-happy looters.
The detailed results given after the player has completed the challenge provides very useful insight to what he may have done right and wrong. If the player wants to try again he can, and since the game engine reshuffles many of the exact events, ZDAY Survival Simulator is never exactly the same twice.

Not bitter, but an explanation as to why the previous version does not work with IPad 3 and has issues with iPad 1&2 after recent update seems in order to the community. I love the game but am not quite ready to throw another two dollars at a great game I used to be able to play, much less see a HD version hit the app store for a game even questionably needed an HD update, given its text based nature...

Was it an issue with the resolution ofte art assets or something?

Normally not one to complain about having two versions of the app, one for iPhone and one for iPad. There are lots of reasons why developers do this. What I don't understand is when the app did support the iPad and then it's changed so it doesn't and I have to buy it again for my newer device.
At least make the original version compatible with the new iPad and release a new Retina enabled version as a separate app. I only bought it to play on my iPad and now I feel a little cheated. Anyway, I'm voting with my wallet on this one and just not buying it again.

ZDAY HD will be FREE on May 1

I'm the creator of ZDAY Survival Simulator. I understand your questions:

People have asked: "Why are there two versions of ZDAY, but only the HD version works on iPad 3? Why can't you just make one version do all of it?

ANSWER: Because we wanted to be able to accommodate all the people who still have older devices like iPhone 3 and iPod 2G, that are still using iOS 4.2. We cannot create a version that will support both.

Solution: We understand that people who have already purchased the older ZDAY Survival Simulator will feel cheated out of the HD version on their iPad 3, so we will be making a very well advertised "FREE DAY" for ZDAY on May 1st 2012. For 24 hours, you can get ZDAY HD for FREE. After that, we just have to keep on fighting.

Spread the word!
Cheers

Thank you! I had bought your game day one, and even garnered a few sales via word of mouth and letting others try the game (to find that they liked it enough to purchase it on their devices), so I don't mean to make it come off as a whiny, entitled gamer! I am not against supporting developers that put out a quality game mind you, but just recently upgrading to an iPad 3 from and iPad 1 (I felt I needed to as performance in newer games seem to be dropping in stability more often with the old pad), it felt odd without at least an explanation to the community.

Thanks for the explanation!
