And I suppose you did. Yeah, I thought the acoustic stuff wouldn't be your thing, but at least for the first time in a long while we both consider an album great. I like agressive music when I'm in the mood for it. Prog influence mostly means having a lot more creative melodies and variety than normally, at least to me. Haha, I'm listening to lots of mellow stuff lately, and I need something that's in contrast with that. I'll check that out later today. A friend showed me that Kreator song a few days ago, and I really like it. Not really thrash, though, and the song titles keep me from checking out the whole album, but I'll do that too eventually. Also, the new Ihsahn album seems pretty good for progblack: Youtube link | Pop Up |

How bout grindcore for a start? ![]() Not really thrash!? U mad? And how could a song title stop anyone from checking out an album? The logic behind it I don understand.... not sure about this song... the prog part is hypnotic. The rest are unexciting. |

Well, it isn't. This is pure speed metal to my ears. And as far as song titles go, I very much dislike anti-religious imagery in lyrics, which seems to be present in some. That means I'll show some of the album to you.

Won't be checking here as often for the following week, got exams
.Most lyrics are incomprehensible to me (not like I would mind them) so I guess that's why I don't mind cheesy or otherwise offensive lyrics .

I've been obsessed with Hypomanie the last week or so. I can't stop listening to it. It's more post-black shoegaze (at least, the album i'm listening to) but it's blown my mind all over again :P Really interesting drumming, entirely instrumental, the occasional synth'ed effect and somehow super melancholic but upbeat at the same time.
Youtube link | Pop Up If you like it check out Lullaby For Ian off the same album. It's a song dedicated to the vocalist from Joy Division who killed himself at 23 years old. It has a couple of voice clips about falling out of love from the biography movie Control. And i think it's far more melancholic than Alissa Loves Perfume. |

Finally! My major headaches are over, got a weekend before my 'easy' tests.
Anyway, I recently received my order of Chinese metal (didn't know they produced them ) and got a few power metal disks in the order. Please, don't bring up the point of awkward pronunciations... PS - I find their production to be a bit muddy. The Barque of Dante - Dine in Hell Youtube link | Pop Up Farewell Youtube link | Pop Up Frozen Cross - Heart of Heroine (it'd be nice if you can tell me what language they're singing in )Youtube link | Pop Up Siren Youtube link | Pop Up |

And I have no idea what language they're singing in for the second one - how about their native Chinese (at least that's what Google Translate's telling me). Too bad the language sounds awful, the music is nice. :> So far, this is probably my album of the year. This is... amazing. Youtube link | Pop Up @Liam: That Hypomanie song was awesome! I had no idea what to expect, so the atmosphere surprised me. I'll definitely be checking out more from them. Last edited by Balu`; 06-16-2012 at 03:10 PM.. |

. Based on your response to the singing, I take that you won't listen to their albums? ![]() Yeah I know. I cringe everytime I hear a mispronounced English passage. Oh well, at least this stuff is less prevalent in the MDM stuff I ordered! ![]() Hmm... it's rare for you to post stuff that we can reach a mutual consensus on. This stuff is spectacular! How does the rest of the album sound? Slower? More/less melodic (riff)? More tempo variations and boring bits? I'm tempted to get the album. |

Mispronounciation isn't such a big isue for me, I got somewhat used to, thanks to finnish power metal bands. :Đ Well, it's a diverse album. I'd say that it has more female vocals, some jazzy/swingy stuff, but the speed/tone remains for the most part. I think it's worth a listen for you. |

Too bad I like the instruments though. Good thing I have natural difficulty in recognizing sung lyrics because that helps alleviate the problem a bit .Wondering if you've heard Carach Angren's Where The Corpses Sink Forever. On the issue of album of the year, I'm settling in with Allegaeon's Formshifter for the time being. Their mix of mindblowing melody and face-melting technicality are infectious (I'd change it to contagious if you turn out to like them ).It's also got my 'album art of the year award' too .
