Tough call, though. NOVA 3 did that, and everyone bitched about the shader effects not being in the hi-res version. Pinball Arcade has the same issue; can't turn on postprocessing (shaders) because the resolution + shaders makes framerate go to hell. They could put in graphic detail sliders a la PC, but that adds huge testing complexity.

I do think that Fish Labs erred in not just changing the low-res version in the toggle to the new res instead, so I'm glad they're making that change. But this truly is one of those situations where you can't please everyone all the time.

If this is what some people consider to be poor quality graphics, then I don't know what they expect these days. And it can get way more complex than this in the heat of a big battle, and still runs at a solid frame-rate. This was taken with the in-game Action Freeze facility.

is that from after the update? only thing i would say they could add is anti aliasing to clean up the edges and it would look sweet, that looks good to me...

Yeah, lack of anti-aliasing is what's hurting the 1.0.8 update. If it was there people would be hard pressed to notice it wasn't full retina.

Yes, this was taken after the update. Anti aliasing would be great as long as the game doesn't take another performance hit as a result. There's always a trade-off with these things, and I personally would choose smooth gameplay over visuals if a compromise has to be made.

Fishlab has done everything to please everybody, and yet they get so much flaming Anyone saying they didnt see the crappy framedrops on Apples new garbage must be dreaming. Good decision to do this, and another reason for me to let my new iPad collect dust while my iPad 2 continues to be used.

It is amazing how people have claimed that the graphics look as bad the SD version after the update. I hope they realize that retina resolution is not the only difference between the HD version and the SD version ...the textures and models have been redone.

I believe Call of Duty is rendered at around 600p. Battlefield 3 is something similar, but a little higher, around 640p. Then upscaled to 720p.

I like the new GoF2HD update, I just think their upscaling is done improperly (for example the lack of AA) which is making people think it looks worse.

I would be fine with this change if it could come with AA to hide the upsampling, and if it didn't also come with a huge amount of completely wasted space in addition to losing the one copy of that same content that is actually native resolution. The combination of noticeable graphical downgrade and huge file bloat with zero gain makes it pretty hard to swallow for third gen iPad owners who picked this up at least in part due to its much-celebrated Retina graphics.

Sorry, I have a complete different point of view! It is a company, they want to sell a product, so they have to care to be present at the place where their customers are ... but this is going offTopic.
