YES! The best one I think is Storm of Souls, but they're both good.

It depends on the type of card game you prefer. If you prefer CCGs like Magic, you'll want SE, but if you prefer deck building games like Dominion, you'll want Ascension instead (though what's cool about Asc. is that it does have the monster killing element like Magic, though not in the same fashion). I have both, and while I love Magic, I play Asc. every day. Other than opening SE once this week to see the recent update, I haven't touched it in months.

Of course Ascension! The fact that every games in Ascension can be so different depending on how u play it and the random cards that pops out in the centre row accounts for the limitless replay value it provides, some more each game is so short that I can go on playing a few games in a row everyday.. Like what artfoundry said, it depends on whether ur a CCG fan, you might like SE more if you're on. Anyway it's free, no harm trying it out!
Ascension is one game you'll not regret getting even if you've never played deck building games before.

I love playing with max points and all the decks in now.

I own the card based version of all 3 now, and ordered all the promo's from the website this weekend.

One of my favorite games by far.

Can someone briefly explain the basic instructions for this game? I played Shadow Era and am in love with it. But I dont like how much of an advantage you have just for having monsters out when your opponent doesn't. I hope Ascension isn't like that. I'm still questioning whether to buy it.

This is a very different type of game than SE. This is a deck building game whereas SE is a CCG. In Asc., you start with a very basic deck. You use those cards to buy hero and construct cards or kill monster cards that are available to ALL players. As you collect heroes and constructs, they go into your deck, and when you've used up all the cards in your deck, you shuffle them and start again (with of course a bigger, hopefully better deck than before).

The goal of the game is to get the most points (called honor). You get honor by killing monsters and from your cards themselves (each card has its own honor value). There's a central pool of honor for all players, and each time a player kills a monster (or some other effect takes place that allows him to acquire honor), the player takes honor from that pool. Once it's gone, the game is over and everyone counts up his honor total.

I love both types of games, but I play Ascension far more than SE. I like how everyone starts out on even ground, and whether you win or lose depends on a combination of luck (luck of the draw both from your deck and for the cards available to purchase/kill) and the choices you make DURING the game (rather than how you construct your deck before playing).
