How does the score fit into the rewarding system specifically? I can't find a consistent pattern/titer of score by which rewards are given. Sometimes, you only need a low score; other times, you need a much higher score.

Also, if you failed a level and have to restart, do the bears that got matched in the failed attempt count toward the retry? Many times, I am seeing bizarrely high number of matches, as if the counts from previous failed attempts were counted en bloc (i.e., altogether)?

All other modes apart Story are survival — you play till game over and trying to make new high score. Action ends when you run out of time, Tactic if you not make a match in 3 turns and lose all 3 lives, and Classic — when all bears on field goes to sleep.

But the more bears you match playing each of these modes — the more filled will be Present Box tag, and each present box contain bear or other cool things.

Plus, there are bears that will appear only in specific modes! Read Gemipedia to know where you can find each one.

The stars depend on your score during the level and length of this level. So if you have 1 or 2 stars — try to make more combos or match gold bear (as part of combo he will give you lot of scores!). And if you make combo x 10, surprise awaits you!

I just picked this up (HD version) and I must say this looks really great on my new iPad. It gets quite challenging pretty quickly as well, which is a good thing.

If the developer's make an update for it, it would really help to add an instruction screen that details how the scoring works and summarizes all the special bonus effects. I am early in story mode and I can see there are special bears popping up, but I have no idea how important matches with them are - not a good thing.

In any case this is a very interesting and attractive matching game and has some things I have not encountered in the many prior IOS match type games I have played so far. And of course, the cute factor here is through the roof.

Did this issue come back in a recent update? I just noticed that my local Action scores are only updated if I top my best score which, as we discussed before, makes little sense on a Top 10 local leaderboard.

We decide to leave local scores system as it is, because next update will bring completely new way of scores leaderboards. I can't spoil it now, but the new scores system will be more ways better and of course we will save all your current scores, so you don't miss your current results.
