Can ios gaming sustain this?

As much as I enjoy gaming on my iphone, there seems to be this worrying trend towards FTP with IAP or games under £3.
Some games I have purchased such as This Could Hurt has a system in place were I can't get past level 10 unless I use IAP.
Surely the market is screwed if apple don't change this.
