Yeah, I tend to do that as well periodically, mostly because my GC is not happy with too many friends...

For right now, with grad school starting tomorrow morning, my playing time is going to be severely limited, so if I do play, it's going to be for score at this point...

If anyone interested in playing for score and sending me invites frequents this forum, send me a PM, or a text if we've exchanged info. The odds of me being able to immediately answer an invite from within BTHD are going to be exceptionally slim for the next 10 months...

Ahh, the joys of real life workloads, eh?

I'm primarily grinding gold and crystals in BTHD right now, though I'm still figuring out how to play properly for scoring purposes: as much as I know the theory behind running and gunning, I'm gonna need to stock up on more speed boosts before I stop accidentally running into enemies coming from in front of me

Soooo...should I be eyeing the Apollon or the Harbringer in the long run? As trusty as I've found the crossbows, the firing rate is a little low for me at the moment...though that's probably a sign that I need to improve my aim quite significantly

Btw, is your PM inbox full yet? Lemme know if I'm overloading you with too much periodic spam >.<

In all honesty? That is a really tough question for me to answer right now.

The Apollon remains my most trusted tool, but the Harbinger has become an incredibly close second, by a mere sliver.

The issue is one of focused damage at a safe distance, coupled with speed concerns, especially considering the r-n-g technique I tend to employ while playing for score.

The Harbinger is amazing, but the damage is just not high enough and my speed is just not fast enough relative to the Apollon for me to completely abandon my chosen load-out, bearing in mind of course that I choose to use both together.

That said, I am intrigued by SG's conversation regarding the Harbinger/Beast combination...

Another key element in the Apollon vs. Harbinger discussion that is simply far too important to ignore is buffing, or how to best use Add-ons. I choose to add my Crit and Damage to my weapons and use my Hat and Armor for my Speed, while using Speed and Damage Boosts.

Regarding the Harbinger vs. Apollon debate, there simply isn't an argument for either that is neither viable or without merit...

Regarding my inbox? Fill 'er up, as long as you don't mind waiting a bit for replies...

As for tactics for the harbinger. Just run and gun. Rpg is great if allies split up and hold their own doors. I find it amazingly easy to hold two doors whole game with an rpg. This would work great if allies minimize what comes out of each door so when running and gunning is needed, will only be based on a few mutants on the floor.
Thanks for the advice on the tactics for the Harbinger.

Would you please share with us some similar info as regards the Beast?

Thanks in advance

A plus would be a similar setup as mine.

With this setup we can knockdown the length it takes to complete 21 waves with a PERFECT score
You are not looking for team mates, man. You are looking for clons

I have a different view. IMMO complementary diversity is the basis for any team and the reason for having fun playing together. In BT and out there.

I find battalions of clons less funny ... by far

I could not agree more. Till SG or Ramonnoodles care to teach us a tutorial on how to properly use a shotgun, I will never understand that a weapon that needs, in the average, twice shots to kill the same mutant and obliges the player to reduce the distance to make effective shots, is more efficient than the crossbow ...

You will understand that when you see the spiders happily avoid all your crossbow shots.

Not so happily. Last time that I did a solo run for scoring I ended up wave 17 with a multiplier of 94X (using the Apollon to send all the spiders to hell)

In any case, if the unparalleled value of the Beast consists of keeping the multiplier at 100X after wave 17, I am not prepared to carry a secondary just for use in one wave. I prefer to carry the Harbinger. I can use it a lot more.

Care to share how you're meant to use the crossbow on spiders? If there's one thing I've noticed, it's that weapon aim doesn't automatically adjust for angles of elevation/depression - you need to face the intended target for a moment for that to kick in. With that in mind, I can't figure out how to run-and-gun the spiders, because the time taken to turn around to shoot them isn't enough for John Irish to adjust his aim DOWNWARDS towards the ground rather than straight over the stupid spiders.

As I see it, keeping the distance is the key. If you always keep a distance of, at least, 3 times Johny's height with the 8-feet-little-b**tards, the arrows will perform their duty almost all the times.

To that effect (and I know that this will sound like an heresy for the members of the CRIT's Cult and I will never be accepted as a BT friend by its High Priest, our admired Scary Guns ), I use a combination of armor/add-ons on the crossbow which provides 121% speed. Add a geeeeenerous use of speed boost ..... and voilá: Johny keeps the distance necessary for aiming straight always (and not downwards)
