Transfer iTunes media to an external hard drive?

Hey, my laptop is getting pretty dang low on space, so I bought a portable 1TB external hard drive... Now I'm wondering if there's a way to move all my iTunes media to this external hard drive and have all my music and apps and things sync to the external each time? I'm pretty much a computer noob when it comes to things like this, so please bear with me...

Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Changing the iTunes Media Folder in Edit/Preferences/Advanced, then copying the folder to the new location should do the trick.

Check tunespan out. That is what I use to manage my itunes
media on multiple hard drives.
