That gave me a thought...you want to buy a product from a dedicated dev? Get Pocket God. 99 cents and it has been updated countless times since release...it used to be one of the top forum topics...people were always bugging him for new episodes.
On the flipside, there was Eliminate, which really juiced the in-app sales practice, though they didn't go through Apple servers. I'm sure there were farming games out before then, but that was the first game (as opposed to clicking and waiting for an animation) I can remeber that instituted an energy system which limited gameplay time, unless you paid for more.
