Here's what I think...
1. Fun factor is very very high... Everytime I play I have a blast with this game!
2. Graphics are "beautifully cute" lol.. Easy on the eyes and detail is nice and fun to look at ..a few more default avatar options would be nice though.
3.I completely love the online turn-based concept ...it's perfect and I prefer it over realtime...I mean this is a MOBILE game here..and ours life's are for the most part on the go... So having that "i need to beat that guy" match hanging in my phone or the back of the head is fun and something to look forward to.
4. Powerups are a blast and done well...IAP is only needed as extra moves or avatars , which are strictly cosmetic.
5. Only thing I want is more events! ... and people to play of course.

You guys are giving some of the first feedback outside the development team and QA, so it's great to hear you say you're enjoying it, especially when what you say resonates with what we think ourselves. Fun and ease of use were our main goals, and I hope we made it happen, and that you enjoy it as much as we do.

It's also great to hear your thoughts on the challenge mode, because that's why we did it that way.

As for your concerns,

I agree that more free avatars would be a nice touch, but as you know two is exactly twice what you often get, and you still have three aditional models to look forward to if you work hard on it (or if you're willing to part with just a couple of bucks).

The issue with the number of users in challenge mode is probably due to your using a promo code, since Apple has recently changed its politics regarding those. Do you see other players in the leaderboards? Have you been able to finish any challenge match at all? We'll keep an eye on this.

As for wanting more events, I have great news for you: the new update is already submitted to Apple and it's a matter of days before it is up on the App Store. But this is major news (for us, anyway), so I'll leave the details for a new post.
