Thanks for that!
Yes it is a very challenging game! I wonder who here has got the furthest so far then?

Let's get a little competitive about this

Thanks, so are we! Every time I see City of Secrets being worked on over the coders shoulders it's looking better and better! Still too early to think about a release date so don't ask (yet)

I have to wonder if I'm missing something, because it feels like I only have part of the information about how to play the game. Do the pips on the die (the numbers) mean anything? Or the color combinations? Or is this really just trial and error placement? That's certainly what it seems like to me.

It feels like a tutorial is missing. Like the first level should have the option to lead you step by step through placement, with hints for progressing further, for at least the first 5-10 turns. Something like "when placing the first color combo dice, look for the least used? most used? side-by-side line of used? colors". Something like that. Otherwise it's just randomly stick things up there and see how far you get, several times in a row.

I can see something like that being liked by hard core logic fans, but I can't see this being picked up and played for long by casual gamers, as it stands now. It's simply too hard and frustrating, at first play.

Hi.
The numbers are just an alternative to the colours (for colour blind users).

I know it may feel like trial and error sometimes but you will hopefully see that there IS a strategy to make your life easier as you get further in to the game.

I take your point about the tutorial, but I think in a way that would spoil the moment of realisation eluded to above. There is really only that one thing to work out, so handing it to people seems like the wrong thing to me.

However, I will talk with the developers and see if we can find a compromise

Started playing this tonight and I love it. Reminds me of Ingenious in some ways. Quite challenging and fun. Can't wait to show it off at gatherings and see who can solve one! Thanks!

Quite the deceptively clever game. Nice to see a puzzler from Knizia. Simple presentation and solid gaming. I like the matching puzzles but really like the covering ones. So frustrating to get to the end and realize that my last couple pieces won't work but highly satisfying to figure out the solution. As with all Knizia games, it is an easy recommendation.

Default Game Impressions

Finally I'm trying this one and what a clever puzzle!
It is extremely mind challenging but also has relaxing touch. It's definitely a perfect puzzle for those who wants a Sudoku-twist game. Quite frustrating some times, but that's the fun of it! I love both modes with its neat presentation and their own challenges.
Have some questions though about the "pickle" in a dark jar inside the grim warehouse? Who/what is that and how can it be related to the puzzle? It's always wonderful that a puzzle game has a back story and along with Pipes and skyline, I wonder if they are connected. Hmm...
