Happy Dwarf Quest II anniversary, everyone! The second installment of the original trilogy was released exactly 20 years ago, only two weeks after part I.

And in a very kind twist of fate, update 1.1 just got approved!



Once again, here are the most important improvements:
  • You can now buy extra Battle Cards at altars for 300 gold apiece
  • Fixed minotaur / lever bug: should you die in this room, you will spawn outside and can try again
  • Added Restart Level option for when you're stuck (shouldn't happen anymore from now on) or want to try again using different tactics
  • Improved overall collision detection for all levels
  • Bigger collision box for the dwarf, meaning no more misclicks during combat
  • Active Battle Card effects are displayed on screen, just below your healthbar

Don't know if this was intentional or not, but you don't get to restart a level with Your Health restored. This bites since i'm stuck on the level with the minotaur and almost no health (and no shrines In sight.)

UPDATE:

Just Found a Shrine, and bought some health Scrolls.

But i'm still getting my A.. kicked by the Minotaur.

Eh... Your map tables are broken. I've encountered multiple instances of the wrong room, or no room (player runs off the edge of the screen) being displayed on exit. The map/rooms are too out of sync where I am to continue.

Played after update and enjoyed it, balance was OK, maybe a little easy now.

Took me about 90min to finish (probably 2 hours exploring also the last open rooms), too little for $2.99 IMO, easily enough for $0.99 sales price.

Didn't feel much like a roguelike to me, which I found positive. Encountered no bugs. Liked the simple graphics which were easily diverse enough for the short playtime, a little more story and real puzzles would help.

4 of 5 stars from me.
