This is literally the first JRPG released on the AppStore. Since it came out back in 2008, it's never seen a single price drop. That's the deal right there.

Looking forward to the drop, I've often paused looking at this title but never dived in before now.

Classic or not, good story or not, I HATE the controls on this. Vay is a highly enjoyable game in all aspects, but the controls just kill it for me. A virtual pad would have been way nicer. Without it, it's nowhere nearly as smooth as FF III.

Pretty cool game.
I think it's interesting the direction they took with changing the characters' battle sprites. It's weird that there are not two but THREE different art styles. Usually, it's basically just a slightly bigger version of the map sprites in battle and then the cut-scene style. Now it's like the battle characters are based on a different cartoon. I'm not sure why they didn't make the battle sprites look more like the characters do in the movies, considering the new sprites have the resolution for that to be possible, but I don't exactly dislike it either as it's pretty funny. The controls aren't great, but they're serviceable. I do rather like how the menu system is just an iOS menu rather than an adaptation of what was originally in the game. |
