I wouldn't call it better necessarily, but try Dungeon Story. It is similar, and still being updated and improved.

Yeah Dungeon Story is the closest thing to this at the moment. It's well done but unfortunately not nearly as good. It's not nearly as strategic in game and it heavily rewards grinding/playtime as opposed to skill. The developer is actively improving it though so I have high hopes for it and it's only $1.

That said... I just wish this game would come back...

Lite has ads and doesn't have some of the expansions that were added later. Otherwise it's the same as the original full version. But I think it's worth the $ for the full, especially on sale.
