Why get rid of the YouTube app? That's sounds like the stupidest idea of all to me.

Like the maps app, YouTube is a Google owned thing. Apple removed both apps. I actually never really cared for the YouTube app. I prefer watching the video embedded in the browser rather than having to switch to another app.

I agree. I never really used the youtube app either. I did download the replacement youtube app from the app store just in case though. There are tons available now.

The only problem I've had with iOS 6 is that the Purchased tab doesn't work in the store. Crashes. This happens if you have a lot of apps purchased/downloaded. You can get to it via iTunes on your computer until they fix this. Hopefully they fix it soon, though. In all other respects it has been awesome, especially on my iPhone 4 which struggled with iOS 5 (constantly having to manually kill apps to get reasonable performance) and runs smooth as silk with iOS 6. No way would I go back. Also Google's YouTube app is better than built-in one in iOS 5, so I can't imagine why dropping the Apple-provided one would be seen as a negative.

Sure the Maps app is not as good, but it's also not quite as bad as some have said. It worked well for me in Washington DC recently. Got us to a restaurant, via walking directions, just fine. With time they will improve it. It will take time, though. Hopefully, though, Google will put out their own maps app so we can have that too, but you know that Google is never going to make an iOS version match the Android version - they want to get you to switch, so they'll always short change iOS. I use TomTom for my car navigation. I had it before and still use it now.

GOF II HD is smoother, considerably except when near space stations or after exploding asteroids.

Nova 3 has the effects of the iPad 2/iPhone 5, and runs relatively well. Not butter smooth like dead trigger but good enough.

Burnout crash had a little lag on iPad 3 and is lag free on the iPad 4.
Yeah, I think from what I am hearing about virtua tennis, the player movement stutter and occasional lag is more a problem with the game itself not a framerate issue that will be noticeably better on the ipad 4 vs new ipad. After upgrading my new ipad to 6.0.1, got better framerates on the new ipad, so the ball doesn't show framerate drops and is pretty smooth now.

I guess the answer that I am getting is slight improvements in games like these between the ipad 4 vs new ipad. I was kind of hoping for more of a difference, but I suppose all of these 2gb monsters probably will require a lot of reprogramming to add in more ipad 4 effects and get better framerates.

But probably the games coming 6 months to year from now, I can see some really taking advantage of the ipad 4 and iphone 5. I guess lucky for us new ipad owners, the ipad mini and ipad 2 will hold back progress enough on games until the ipad 5 comes out. After the ipad 5 comes out, the ipad mini retina will come out with an a6, and the ipad 2 and ipad 3 will likely become kind of extinct.

I went to Frys electronics yesterday, and have a lot of observations that I will keep posting. The first one is on Windows 8 tablets like the Microsoft Surface. I played with a Sony surface like tablet, and have to say I wasn't all that impressed.

The screen was much worse than the new ipad or ipad 4. Didn't care much for the widescreen format, like the 4:3 ratio on the ipad better. Windows 8 was kind of confusing, not dummy proof like ios is.

Also, I personally think The metro interface is ugly. They gotta get some better graphics on that interface, don't like the drab colors, and not so hd text and icons.

But I did like the standard usb port and sd card. Damn, apple better add some way for more memory for us ipaders. 64 gb and no sd cards is the pits. And while I didn't see any wireless joysticks for the windows tablets, they will be coming, so I hope apple too comes out with something,

I really want to be able to play Marvel vs Capcom 3 or tekken on my new ipad with a controller that works. Using 6 buttons on a touchscreen just does not work.

Having office on the windows tablet seemed nice. But overall, wasn't impressed, guess I would have to recommend getting an ipad 4 over the Microsoft surface for anyone doing some christmas shopping soon. Unless you really are a movie or porno addict cause videos will look better on the surface with the wider screen, and you will be able to attach a portable hard drive to it so you won't have to worry about disk space.

Indeed. This is so annoying. Called Apple and they had never heard of the problem before, and couldn't help. Riiiiiight... Pffft.

The Purchased tab on my iPad works just fine... sorta. It takes a loooong time to load and I need to scroll down through the list carefully. If I scroll too fast it doesn't have the time to load all the game icons and screenshots and crashes.

That and when tapping a game from the list, it's missing screenshots and description information. Annoying as hell, to be honest.

At least it works at all though, right?

Starting to read a lot of articles on swipegate for the iphone 5. Along with scratchgate and mapgate, from what I read long swipes are not being registered correctly. Is this true iphone 5 owners out there?? Is there an effect in games like Fruit Ninja?

You know, the press always picks on apple products and makes these gate things a huge deal, like heatgate, mapgate, weightgate, underpoweredgate, scratchgate, antennagate, swipegate, and others.

But being both an iphone 4 owner and new ipad owner, these issues are always way overblown, and are usually minor annoyances.

And I noticed for the ipad 4, writers seem to tired to bring up old issues like heatgate and weightgate for it.

Anyone have an iphone 5 and can check for this swipegate issues? Are they real? Is it a minor problem or just a minor nuisance?

How many games you downloaded in the past? I got 6000, and I tried to do the purchases tab on my new ipad, and it seemed to go forever, don't think it crashed, but I gave up and went to sleep.

I've got... Thousands too. On more than one account.

Doesn't really matter though, there's a limit on how many games are visible in your Purchased tab, you can't keep scrolling until you find the very first game you bought. I've hit that limit WAY before I got to my first game.
