There's been an update for this. Anyone confirm whether it's any good? Also, at £1.49 is it on sale?

Just a couple of days ago it was going for $6.99 (no clue what that is in pounds), so while it was clearly lowered to gain a little momentum for the now released update, I have no clue if this is temporary or the new price.

This game is amazing, great 4X. It's the same as the XBLA etc. versions but in 2D not 3D, if you want to look up say IGN reviews. Some people had stability problems, I never have on iPad 1. I bought the iPad version even though I owned iPod version when I updated.

In short if you like civ or 4x, get this.

Now Playing: , Civilization Rev for iPad, Hero Academy, Sonic Racing, Kingdom Rush, Dungeon Raid, Where's my Where's My Water updates?

I was thinking about buying this app but was put off by the comments about ads. Does anyone know if the ads are just in the menus or in the actual game itself?

I have to admit I thought you were smoking the crack or possibly on a wrong thread until I loaded it up.

Oh, crap, there now are banner ads scrolling across the top!

Fortunately they only exist in the Main Menu and Game Setup screens, once in the game the banners are GONE.

They really aren't that intrusive but I do feel a bit chaffed by the audacity. This has almost always been a premier game on the iPad, not necessarily the quality as it has had a checkered past with a lot of bungled updates, but at $6.99 (if not more) you SHOULD be safe from that kind of nonsense.

Thanks for the info! I think I can live with the ads if they are only in the game setup and main menu screens.

Really, ads?

One to strike off the list.

The only ads I'm getting right now is text only ads for other games published by 2K. I'm not sure this fully qualifies, a lot of developers do this. The NBA2k12 game my Civ Rev is advertising isn't even available on my country's app store...

Yep, but nevertheless it's a shame!

And the fact that other developers act the same way it does not make it better!
