First of all thanks for the promo code, appreciate it.
The gameplay consists of merging (you don't say) viruses (I guess) to clean them up. Just draw a circle around at least two viruses of the same type and they merge to a single one, becoming bigger in the process. Once all viruses are absorbed into one they are automatically cleaned up and you move on to the next stage. This is complicated by the fact that you are on a timer, obstacles and random movement of the viruses. There are bombs which when merged with the viruses explode, shooting them all over the screen, giving you a time penalty. There are also iron blocks which don't give any penalty, they are just in the way and can't be merged. Power ups help you out when merged. The scoring system is kinda random. There are 3 stars on every stage and if you merge them you get, well 3 stars but there is also a highscore system for some reason. There are 4 worlds with 15 stages each and extra bonus stages. Now for the good part: The graphics are cartoony and awesome. It definitely feels geared towards children but then why isn't it easier? Its fun when played in short bursts but I can't see myself playing Merge over a longer period of time. Ok, on to the bad stuff: This has no iPhone 5 support, you can't change the screen orientation and its a very simple game. Also due to the random movement of the viruses and bombs that teleport in at random and f*ck your sh*t up, the game can be quite frustrating at times . Also the timer seems WAY too short in later stages. Verdict: I don't really know who this game is for. Kids might get frustrated and older gamers might be put off by the cartoonish graphics and simplicity of Merge. At least its good looking and functional, simply inoffensive but not outstanding in any way. And before I forget, just a tip to the dev: Merge is a fitting name for this but it is a TERRIBLE name for a game on the App Store, no one will ever be able to find it just by typing "Merge" into the search bar, there are just WAY too many other results coming up. Also the description in the App Store is in pretty poor english. |
