App description: "Im finding Sphoxie to be quite challenging, but in a good way. It makes you think before jumping off a platform, and you have to think of ways to avoid being hugged to your doom. If 3-D platformers are your thing, then you dont want to miss Sphoxie." - appadvice.com

"The first thing that caught my attention were the graphics, which mix 3-D with the pixelated look. The game is powered by the Unreal Engine, so the 3-D is actually done very well. Everything from our spiky friend to the colorful and vibrant environments, to the cubed enemies, will look great on your Retina iDevices." 4/5 appslooking.com

Does look good but wonder how the 1 finger controls really work. Eg relative touch or something else?

Hello,

I'm the developer of Sphoxie and the controls work by sliding your finger in the direction you want the little dude to go, the further away you slide your finger from the initial position the faster he will go.

Here a little trailer to see the game in action!

Seems like a cross between Marble Blast and Hamsterball, which is no bad thing. Any iPad retina support?

Right i'll take the plunge !

Just bought it, story at the beginning, might need a skip button !

Played the first level, love the retro sounds and the graphics. Controls are great, its like relative touch, can speed up the way you roll by pressing again closer or further away from the character.

At the end of level 1 some funny blocks tried attacking me (pushing me off), was quite cool, reminded me of an old arcade game where you have to bump the characters off the edge.

Would love a jump button in this, perhaps in a later level you can jump.

But as for a 'rolling' marble madness-esque style game its great. This reminds me slightly of an old 8 bit classic - Bobby Bearing

Glad i picked it up now, like i say its like a modern twist on Marble Madness. Looking forward to playing the later levels

right on, thanks for the impressions, psj, and dev, for the vid. Just snagged this one as it looks FANTASTIC. Installing now, can't wait to dive in. =oD

K... right off the bat... that unmovable joystick is a pain. It's WAY too far in on the screen. I'm going to try the touch controls, but I prefer a joystick (yeah, I know, I'm in the minority with that... but whatever... I like virtual controls) - I'm going to attach a pic so that others can see where the joystick is placed (if you're wondering) - but before I do post this edit...

TOUCH CONTROLS;

**NM... the relative touch (dragging anywhere on the screen to move your character) - works just fine. Thanks for making sure that the touch controls are well implemented.

I'd still REALLY enjoy being able to use the joystick though, and I hope the placement is fixed in an update. =o)

So far, after playing the first stage, the game is a blast. I can't wait to get into the real meat of it all.

Just watched the video trailer and I'm intrigued
I reviewed the games requirements on the App Store and it says the itouch 4g is supported so I'm hoping it truly works fine on my device!
Because I'd like to get it

Thanks for the feedback The small joystick is supposed to be dynamic and I'm surprise it doesn't move, I'll certainly look into it and try to fix the problem.

I wasn't able to test it on an iPod touch 4g so I have no idea what the performance will be like, I'm assuming it will be like a 3GS. Let me know how it runs please.
