I've wanted this for so long! I hope your rumour is true. A couple of years back I got so excited when I saw it was being released for iOS but then it turned out to be a 2D turn-based game

Biggest disappointment ever.

It'd fit perfectly on iDevices, and no doubt it would run smoothly.

It would be perfect but I think only microsoft would let it happen not nintendo. Didn't microsoft release some games for the app store recently?

A Goldeneye game for iOS would be great. However, my caveat (which is a caveat that applies to all iOS first person shooters) is the lack of a real, decent controller for iPhone/iPad. It's pretty ridiculous that 5+ years into iOS that we still don't have a real, legitimate, Apple controller.

The controls would need to be completely rebuilt for iOS devices.

It's a bummer that this rumor didn't come from a more credible source. If it came from someone with connections within the iOS gaming world, I'd be more willing to allow myself to get excited.
Gryphon, is there any chance you can ask your guy where he heard this from?

I just went this morning and asked.

Bad news.

He said he was just screwing around and there is no port coming.

The A$$hole!

Well, that's in no way surprising, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a tiny bit excited... It's weird, it seems that this is a rumor that, every once in a while, pops up, which shows that there is some definite interest in having this game ported to modern devices (not just iDevices, but home consoles as well), and with the release of Skyfall, it would seem like now is the perfect time to pull a stunt like this. Hopefully, by 2017, Activision and Rare get all the rights sorted out and we get a Rockstar-like 20th Anniversary edition of Goldeneye...
