From the upcoming thread the developer, PixEye, explained the following difference between free and paid editions on 11/18/12. It's possible some that some things have changed but at that time he said...
Quote:
The first ios version will be free. Includes:

2 heroes
About 50 dungeon levels ( well, the mechanic itself is endless, but endless game will be in full version)
12 type of monsters ( all of them have different powers and abilities)
4 types of "quests" ( kill local boss, slay monsters, save villagers, and find an object in dungeon )
2 minigames ( blacksmith and fishing )
Monster arena. Its a place where you must kill all monsters to get a chest with rewards, but you cant escape from arena If you agreed to go there.
Slot machine ( tile with constantly generated objects, you must tap fast to grab thing you want )
"Greedy door" - this is one of the last additions. The idea is that you must pay something to open the door. Not necessarily money. Sometimes it takes your hp or attack rate.
Allies: Fire mage ( will make AOE damage to monsters ), tank ( will protect you from any 3 attacks ), priest (heals) . Allies can be found in dungeon.
7 different magic scrolls ( I called them runes last time, but its kinda incorrect ).
GameCenter support

After free version Ill submit full one for 1.99$
Endless gameplay
Sort of storyboss
Achievements
New dungeon styles [skins]
Updates ( new monsters, heroes and items to find and so on )

So the main difference between free and full version is amount of content. Gameplay itself quite similar and without any cuts. Of course people with larger choice of heroes, dungeon content will see game a little bit different.

As an aside, notice the Undead Cows [screenshot #3]... perhaps my ploy of begging every developer to show up in the upcoming thread to add zombie cows to their game finally paid off.

I downloaded the free version for a quick look. It has advertisements that annoyingly cover part of the character information screen during game play. According to the unlock screen, the full version does not have ads and allows accessing all the character types.

My quick impressions of the game is that it is simple, but fun with attractive art. One thing that puts me off is that the graphics does not use the full screen on my iPad.

Lord Gek is listed as a tester, so hopefully he will chime in with his opinion of the game. I always find Tim's impressions to be very reliable.

Agreed. There are black bars on either side of the screen. It's not a huge issue, but you have to wonder why...

I tested for the game. Enjoyed it quite a bit. It's simple, not perfect but fun!

It's art style and the way it's organized is exceptional. Needless to say, I bought it right away. I think it will be one of those that'll be great for some and just eh for others. Wish I could help more. I love it though!
