Just figured it out. Just select it in your inventory and it automatically provides just a little extra light.

Well OK they are called Flashlights, but same difference. Craft one, then put it in an accessory slot.

FYI We just submitted version 1.4.0 for review, which includes joystick opacity & size options, so that should help you out!

Easier than minecraft. You essentially just find the resources and then go to the crafting pages and just tap the icon of what you want and you have it.
