Default Satsuma Audio - Professional, Affordable Sound and Music

Hi there!

My name is Lawrence Steele and I am a composer and sound designer specialising in creating audio for games operating under the name 'Satsuma Audio' (I just really like citrus fruit)

Games and music have always been my favourite things in life (except citrus fruits) and so to have the opportunity to combine them both to make a living is just awesome.

I have 10+ years experience creating audio and have made sounds for numerous published titles, mainly iOS and web based. I give 100% (not 110% because that is impossible) on every job I do and always strive to create outstanding audio.

-

Rates

My rates are "indie-friendly", flexible and can be adjusted to suit the budget of any project, plus I am always open to negotiation so just let me know what you need and I'm sure we can come to an arrangement that suits both of us!

-

Music

I pride myself on my versatility and love to create music in all different styles. Everything from orchestral fantasy to lighthearted, casual game themes to chiptunes and even dubstep (or how about ninja boss fight, or orchestral fantasy dubstep!)

I have also created a Video Showreel which showcases some of the projects I have worked on and the audio I created for them.

-

Sound Design

While I originally got into game audio through a love of composition, it didn't take long for sound design to become just as exciting and rewarding. I have created sound effects for numerous games, everything from UI clicks and puzzle game combo sounds, to magic spells, robots and even a cat firing a laser beam out of its nose (yes this actually happened!)

I have put together a Sound Design Demo Reel which shows some examples of my work and the range of sounds I can create.

I am also experienced with audio middleware such as FMOD and WWise and have experience implementing sounds within the Unity engine.

So it has been a while since my last post and a very busy few months!

I recently created lots of squelchy, gory sound effects for iOS/Android zombie defense game Hipster Zombies (this one was a lot of fun), made music and sound effects for a couple of games for Slingo.com. Also, ongoing sound design work for the in-production MMORPG SideQuest, as well as some victory music for some real life slot machines and some other stuff which isn't quite finished yet!

Here are some nice things which people said about my work recently (I didn't make them say this I promise):

"Everyone over here at Slingo has been blown away by your work, honestly. We can’t imagine why we’d use anyone else ever. The artist on our team can’t stop gushing about how perfect the sounds are." - Jason Chin, Slingo.com

"Let me start by saying that the both of us are really happy with the quality of the sounds so far ... We're very confident that you've been the right choice for us and our little project here." - Martin Nerukar, Sharkbomb Studios.

However, it looks as though the workload is beginning to clear slightly so I would love to take on some more projects, so if you need any music or sound design for your current project, I would love to hear from you!

Currently working on music for the upcoming melon racing (yes, melon racing) game, Melon Dash (http://www.melondash.net/). Just written an awesome bluegrass banjo tune for it, can't wait to show it off

However I am still very much on the lookout for new projects to get involved with, so if you need sounds or music of any variety just let me know!

New music!

Just finished mixing this Bluegrass banjo track for Melon Dash (www.melondash.net)

http://soundcloud.com/satsuma-audio/melon-dash-farm

Was a lot of fun to do, had the chance to get a real banjo player in to play on it which was awesome, can't wait to get the rest of the music done!

In the meantime, I am still on the lookout for projects to get involved with so hit me up if you need music and/or sound effects

Update time...

Been v.busy lately working on various things, unfortunately as game development takes so damn long I can't show you them all right now!

I recently completed some wicked cool surf rock themed sounds and music for Slingo Splash Slots: http://www.slingo.com/games/detail/179/

Also, SideQuest, an upcoming web-based MMORPG I am doing sound design for has launched a KickStarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...3/sidequest-v2
You can hear some of my SFX in the video, including a giant squid.

Finally, a new track I made, inspired by a work in progress game I saw about retro dancing robots!
https://soundcloud.com/satsuma-audio/robo-dancin
Check it out if you like chiptunes, dance music, robots or any combination of the above.

As always though, I can never have enough work, so please get in touch if you need music and/or sound effects for anything!

Thanks,

Lawrence

Been a while since my last update and what a busy time it has been! The backlog of work is beginning to clear so it's time to get it filled up again!

If you are in need of any music and/or sounds for your upcoming titles please let me know

Some recent bits:

Slingo Zen Match - A serene Zen Garden themed match 3 game I did music & SFX for.

Slingo Safari Slots - An african safari themed slot machine featuring my music & sounds.

SideQuest Alpha - The SideQuest Alpha is now live! Free-to-play 2D JRPG inspired MMORPG which I have been sound designing for the past year or so. Bear in mind its Alpha so not 100% perfect!

Map screen music - An orchestral piece I recently wrote for an upcoming iOS fantasy roguelike-like (crazy how that's actually a thing now...). Pretty pleased with how this one turned out.

There's a whole bunch more stuff but unfortunately none of them are finished/released yet so can't show it right now.

So please get in touch if you need anything audio wise, full portfolio info and links in the original post or on my site http://satsu.ma

A couple more new tracks:

Banzai Words theme - A lighthearted, minimal-ish track for the minimal yet fast paced iOS word game Banzai Words

Melon Dash - City - A fast paced funk track for the City level of upcoming melon race game Melon Dash. If this music is not suitable for colourful watermelons racing around a city then I don't know what is!

As always, get in touch if you need ear candy of any variety
