I think this currently only applies to the US. In many countries it's actually illegal for carriers to lock phones, go figure.

As well it's not Britain I wouldn't even buy a locked phone, they even sell various simcards for 99p in newsagents here.

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out
