I wish they did an intro sale for these as I've picked up every book that "tin man games" have put out and every one of them has gone on sale. Blood of the zombies wasn't out for very long before it went on sale.
Don't get me wrong I love all the books it just sucks when they say they are priced like this because of the small audience etc but then go on sale anyway. My impatience always gets in the way of waiting though. Well my rant about the price is over now. I'll probably pick this up in the morning when I get up. Yeah not that it's not worth it, but it does seem a bit a bit around the wrong way. It promotes holding off.
Still, I think I'll grab it regardless. |

What is the combat system like for House of Hell? Revamped to be in line with the Orlandes system? I heard the combat system for Blood of Zombies was quite different...

I'm guessing its the same as the original Fighting Fantasy book - Skill, Stamina, Luck and Fear but haven't yet taken the plunge due to waiting to see what else comes out, I may opt for Phantom Leader as I only have enough credit for that.
Blood of Zombies was flawed because it attempted to take on large numbers of enemies, it was a nice idea but it put you on an ever decreasing decline, because in some battles you were going to take damage no matter what. By the end of the book even with good rolls you were feeling it, it lacked that factor of luck and some situations you were not going to get past if you didn't have enough Stamina no matter what you did, hence unlimited bookmarks to alleviate the harshness of Ian Livingston's system. Downloaded this morning, had a quick go, not bad at all. Installation size isnt too bad.
Granted theyre quite expensive (iOS wise) but as a kid on peanuts for pocket money i would spend lots on the actual books themselves. So 30 years later i shouldnt moan about a few quid for one of these. Would love more and more to come out. But yeah i find sales weird, 'normally' you have an introduction sale and then its full price forever, does kinda 'suck' when its the reverse but either way i want Tin Man Games to be successful and keep producing these so i'm happy theyve got my full money But Forest of Doom soon please! |
