Default Traxion by Games Foundation (Universal)

Hi all,

we are proud to announce that our new game TRAXION is now available for iOS devices from iTunes:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/traxion/id577044442

Check out the trailer:

TRAXION is a physics-based shooter, in the tradition of cave flyers such as “Thrust” or “Gravity Crash”.

What makes Traxion cooler than others in its genre is the fact that the entire game world, and all objects in it, are affected by physics. This allows us to create very interesting situations and challenges for the player. All levels in the game are designed around physical puzzles.

In the role of a daring starship pilot, you embark on a series of neck-breaking missions in outer space. Navigate your ship through the caves of dangerous alien planets and find the valuable crystals hidden there. Tow them back to the planet’s surface, using your ship’s tractor beam. But be careful -- enemy patrol ships and other kind of hostile alien creatures are out to get you!

During your explorations of alien environments and their vast cave systems, you will find all kinds of contraptions, such as switches, explosive charges, force-fields and various pieces of alien machinery that you can use to your advantage. Moreover, in order to succeed in your mission on each planet, you’ll have to fight rather terrifying boss-monsters.

The controls are designed to be as simple and intuitive as possible: use one finger to navigate your ship, and a second one to control the laser gun. It all feels very natural and there are no on-screen buttons to get in the way.

Wow, this looks like it could be a lot of fun. I'm surprised no one else has jumped in here and commented yet.

From the description this sounds very much like the old nintendo game Solar Jetman

Keep us in the loop when achievements show up and if its anything like that old classic, I'll grab it in a heartbeat

Watching the video made me want to buy this game.

Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed...

First, a minor detail, there's no autorotate, which annoys me.

The controls are the thing that lets this game down, big time.

You control the ship with your finger, press in the direction you want to move, and aim and shoot with another finger.

This control scheme is horrible, because you can't stand still and shoot, because the game interpret it as a movement order when only one finger is pressed.

Also, controlling the game like this my fingers were all over the place on screen all the time, and I hate that, even on the iPad, which I play all my games on.

Didn't give the game much time because I was so annoyed by the control method, so maybe I've not given the game a fair shake, but hey, if you loose me on the controls at the very beginning, I'm afraid you've lost me for good...

Edit: i just double checked. There's no alternative control method.

Hi Bytebrain, thanks for your feedback. We are thinking about implementing virtual joysticks as an alternative control method for the next update of the game.

That's great news!
I'll give it a go again when the controls are updates.

Hi Bytebrain, there is a new version in the appstore now.

This version includes virtual joysticks and 3 different power-ups. You get a power-up every time you break a level hiscore.

The next version will include support for auto-rotate, and a leaderboard.
