*****

"Stratosphere: Multiplayer Defense takes the TD genre to a whole new level through its multiplayer gameplay style."
- 148apps

"I love that the multiplayer is on the same device because it feels very much like a board game. I just love everything about this: the visuals, the music -- very electro-dancey -- and I really like that it was made by only two people, which really shows that it was a work of love."
- Reviews on the Run, G4TV

''Stratosphere features a brilliantly executed multiplayer mode and a great visual presentation which makes this title an overall easy recommendation.''
- iReviewT

"Stratosphere offers a lot of fun, especially when you are playing head to head with a friend. We have never seen a tower defense game like this."

Stratosphere: Multiplayer Defense

Hey everyone, we're a new indie developer from Vancouver, Canada, and Stratosphere is the result of two years of work to bring competitive tower defense to the iPad! Two players each take a side of the iPad, and balance between building defensive towers and sending enemies at their opponent.

We created Stratosphere because we think the iPad is a great device to combine the fun of sitting around a board game with the interactive, real-time craziness made possible by video games. It's also a whole new take on the tower defense genre, where the player doesn't just sit by and wait for waves of enemies to approach his or her towers. Players must also make strategic decisions about sending enemies to overwhelm their opponent while at the same time ensuring that their defenses are strong enough to repel what is being sent at them.

We found that just like many other genres, tower defense is far more fun played against a real human rather than just computer controlled waves, so with that in mind we designed Stratosphere from the ground up for the iPad with multiplayer as the focus. Stratosphere is easy to pick up and play, but also has many deeper layers of strategy to discover and master as players uncover the stengths and weaknesses of each race, unique attributes of each level, and learn to balance their spending between sending enemies and building defensive towers.

For those looking to go it alone, Stratosphere also includes a singleplayer mode to learn the ropes, complete missions, unlock new levels and bonus content, and take on three increasingly difficult Stratobots.

Highlights:
  • Multiplayer, competitive tower defense playable by two players on a single iPad.
  • Three alien races, each with their own unique towers to master.
  • Unlockable modifiers that can be combined to create 500+ unique ways to play.
  • Zero load screens.
  • Singleplayer mode with missions to complete and three increasingly difficult Stratobots to take on.

Cool game. Yet to try it against my missus yet but looking forward to it. Any plans to add Game Center achievements?

We're definitely considering it! It will just need to be re-designed quite a bit because Stratosphere was designed around same-device multiplayer on the large iPad screen. We already have some ideas for how to pull it off though, so if Stratosphere does well on iPad we're looking forward to building something cool for iPhone as well.

Online multiplayer has been a really highly requested feature, and we think it would be a ton of fun as well!

We designed Stratosphere around same-device multiplayer because we think there's something special about sitting across from someone and playing together on the same iPad, just like a board game, but that doesn't mean online wouldn't be equally awesome .

As long as the game continues to catch on and grow with more and more fan support, we're planning on updating it a ton with all sorts of new content. Online multiplayer could definitely be one of those things, but if we do it, we want to make sure we do it right.

Please add more stash items! More costumes, more ridiculous things like the banana thing. This game is really fun. The bots are challenging, and two player is awesome. Multiplayer (online) would be awesome, but please add more stash items!

Thanks Sawyer! Happy you're having a good time with it! We're fixing up a few bugs and improving some UI stuff in a small update that will arrive first (including a big fix for our European friends), but the Stash will be updated with more content in the next big update!

Which are your favourite modifiers, levels or races so far?

I only have up to the red course in the maps, but the red is my favorite. I have tower gamble, and the speed rounds. Speed rounds is my favorite. I plan on getting the clones next, along with sudden death. I also have the 25% more coins for level up thing. All in all, this game is really fun. And more races would be nice. I like the red and green races(dont know the names)
