The dev is the one suggesting the ideas.

Ha, ha.. true enough!

Still kicking this idea around. I'm trying to keep the scoring system as minimalist as possible. The game is really more about the skiing. There are some issues with the idea I proposed earlier... can't find a clean way to display the score on the level buttons. Nothing is as clean and readable as the stars.

I think I have another idea, an adjustment to the last idea, that could work. I'll prototype it out and see if it feels right...

Sorry to use this forum for airing my dev thoughts... hope nobody minds. Appreciate all the feedback so far.

-Jeff

I got the music for Krashlander from the Unity3D (dev tool) asset store. They probably bought it to. :-)

Default Game Impressions

I was on the fence with this game. Like others have said, the first thing that came to my mind when looking at the initial impressions was qwop. Although now after buying it, obsessing over it and 3 star-ing every level yesterday I love it!

Although unlike qwop, where even if you master the controls it's still awkward and ridiculous and not intuitive at all, Krashlander is as the dev stated: like riding a bike, it takes awhile to get used to but then becomes natural and actually starts to make a lot of sense. I can't remember the last game I played that was this satisfying though. It's all about experimenting till you get it, just as I start getting really frustrated restarting the same level over and over out of nowhere something clicks and I pull off an incredible double backflip with a perfect tucked landing and kick a robot in the head. And when that happens it doesn't feel like it's by accident but rather that I'm just that good... lol

I don't really think the 3 star system works or makes sense as it is but don't know what the answer would be either, but perhaps you could give points for style i.e. doing a double backflip over this jump rather than just trying to keep straight...

The points just need to be worth something. Maybe a way to buy things to customize the skier? Different color skis, etc.

Haha I figured it was something like that. Fantastic work on this one btw. I really enjoy digital toy type applications and this one is a blast.
