My review of iScape Games' Super Marble Roll.

When I opened up Super Marble Roll, having high hopes because of the quality of the icon, I now know that the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" doesn't apply in the app store. I was surprised there were no menus or in-game pause function. Not really caring, however, I found the game to be a blast. It auto-calibrates every time you start a new level, which is a big plus for me. The controls are some of the best controls I've seen in a long time on my iPod. Some of the more experienced gamers may find a very cool easter egg that racks up tons of points. The levels get progressively harder, which is the norm, but you don't notice that until you fall off the edge.

You have three lives, which are very easy to lose when you're just starting out. When you lose all three, your name is put in a local highscore list. The obstacles in the game, and the jewels in the game, are fun to evade and collect, respectively. You're being timed in every level, but the time is ample so I barely payed attention. It might become a bigger factor in later-on levels, but so far it's not a big deal. The big deal in this is getting from Point A to Point B, and collecting jewels and getting a good time are more of "side-quests" to me. When you lose all your lives, it takes you back to the beginning of the first level. This is a game I can get into easily, whether I'm playing for a couple of minutes or 2 hours.

Pros:
-Excellent gameplay
-Excellent graphics
-Very addictive
-AUTO-CALIBRATION!!
-Special Easter Egg that nails you tons of points

Cons:
-No menu
-No pause in-game (pressing home button doesn't count)
-Only local, no global, highscores

Things to Add:
-Menu
e.g New, Continue, Options, High Scores
-In-game Pause Button
e.g. Resume, Restart, Quit
-Level Select
-Achievements on each level
e.g. Collected all jewels, didn't lose any lives, beat certain time, etc.

Overall: 42/50
