      What are they?! I couldn't find any info on them anywhere on here so I started this thread.
      They're red, large-ish (about the size of your char), and are hidden on levels. Any idea what they do?

      The gems are worth more money [I think] and they dramatically boost your overall score [if you're trying to compete on the leaderboard]

      They're worth 5 gold coins I'm pretty sure. There are several on the silver frog, you usually can find them on levels with harder paths that aren't required to take

      Yup, 1 gem = 5 coins.

      Coins affect your score more so than the speed with which you complete the level, so if you want to have a good shot at the global leaderboards - you'll want to pick those gems up in your run-through!
