Controlled by your iPhone's gyro sensor, it's about to take off for a space dogfight in a world of racing lights and lambent energy not seen since TRON.*A sci fi setting drawn with vector scan graphics*A war between the allied forces of Earth and an encroaching Mars*A thrilling race to the enemy's headquarters*A twofold test of piloting skill, destroy enemies and avoid obstaclesVECTROS has two powerful weapons: quick firing "laser blasters" as well as devastating "homing missiles" that leave no escape. It must use these to destroy every stage's boss, each with its own attacks and requiring its own tactics to conquer. The game music and sound effects were created by Ogura Hisayoshi Onga Seisakushow, famous for the music from games like those in the "DARIUS" series and “DARIUSBURST" (GretaThing / Hello 31337).The original soundtrack, “Silent Errors,” is available on the iTunes Store. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/silent-errors-vectros-original/id575803928The main illustrator, Yoshitoshi Abe, works in “S-F Magazine.”Updated to reflect feedback from visitors at the Tokyo Game Show 2012 (TGS2012).Compatible with “GameCenter”; Players compete with each other across the world for high scores. Additional stages are scheduled to be added later in a free upgrade.A Score Attack mode which enables players to keep fighting through an endless map is scheduled to be added as an upgrade as well.[Story]Mars and Earth are at war. VECTROS, developed by Mars in an effort to wipe out the Earth alliance, has been turned to fight for the outnumbered and outgunned forces of Earth. The irony is not lost on the allied Earth forces, who have reprogrammed "Cynthia," its military droid pilot, to be the centerpoint of a sneak attack on the Martian headquarters.Become "Cynthia," and save the Earth![Developmental background]VECTROS and its weightless, high speed fights move through space in a wireframe battlefield, the vector scan graphics that entertained a different generation of gamers. Then raster scan games went mainstream, polygons appeared, and vector scan games died out. Development of VECTROS began with a psychological need to answer the question, “What would happen if Vector Scan games never died out?” It's a world like you've never seen, the outline of an intricate facility drawn with luminous TRON-like energy, hanging weightlessly in the perfect black of deep space. The enemy headquarters will race around you as you battle your way towards its center.Compatible: iPhone (3GS and above), iPad (iPad2 and above, including iPad mini), and iPod touch (The 4th generation and above).Compatible OS: iOS4.3 and above.Official site: http://vectros-w.ne-net.jp/ Information Seller: Genre:Action, Arcade Release:Jan 16, 2013 Updated:Nov 30, -0001 Version: Size:0.0 TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating: (3) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel leonard_dabinski Well-Known Member Jan 7, 2013 244 0 0 #2 leonard_dabinski, Jan 16, 2013 Looks interesting. Ironically i've just been in another thread preaching about buying higher priced games but some 20 meg game from a company i've never heard of for 5 dollars ? But like you say its like a virtual boy/old handheld game/vectrex-ish type game. Wish it had alternative controls though. retr0spective Well-Known Member May 24, 2011 915 17 18 Riverside, CA #17 retr0spective, Jan 16, 2013 The vector graphics are very appealing to me, there does not seem to be enough variety for five dollars. I may have to hold off on this one. On the other hand, if they add an Arc Squadron control scheme, I may reconsider. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #18 drelbs, Jan 16, 2013 Dang this looks neat. Only gripe is that I wish they'd not draw polys that aren't visible. If I had $5 in the account, I'd probably pick this up. slamraman Well-Known Member Patreon Gold Aug 27, 2011 2,511 5 36 #19 slamraman, Jan 16, 2013 Bought it and just had a quick go at my son's tennis class so had to play without sound. It's not bad. If anyone remembers the original Star Wars arcade game when you go inside the death star it's a bit like that. Alot of the bad guys come from behind and when you shoot them down they just turn into a sort of blood red splatter instead of the very satisfying break of vectors a la Star Wars. Only two levels in and the tilt controls aren't bad but this could do with Verticus or Arc Squadron Controls. I think Verticus ones would be cool. Probably not worth the price it's at (in comparison to other games which offer more polish) but I'll spend a bit more time with it later and see how it plays before tonight's releases. This could be really good with a bit more tlc. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #20 syntheticvoid, Jan 16, 2013 Damn... Right now, I've only got an iPad... So tilt only is sort of a deal breaker ATM... Does it play like virtual controls would make it better? I know that sounds stupid, because the answer is almost always yes... But it could just be a game that feels right with tilt... Like Tilt To Live, Dark Nebula, Space Tripper, ect... **sorry, not to dis you slam... Just hoping to hear more than one impression on the subject of the controls... Sorry... Just curious.
