The game nearest to Mario or Sonic would be Bounce-On. If you mean mascot, I would have to say Rolando.
Hate it when people make threads like this. iphone may never have one. There may be platformers popular amongst iphone gamers, but when you go up to any random person and say "remember castle of magic?" they'll probably look at you like wtf? But when asking anyone "hey, remember mario? remember sonic the hedgehog?" they can probably respond with a yes. Hope this concept makes sense.
Good point. There is no one character that Apple has made a household name yet. The closest those that know the platform well would know would have to be Rolando though
i would probably say rolando, and lizzie from sway.since john gore isnt going to be a ipod exclusive. and neither is enviro bear ha
Its been less than a year since appstore launched. How could you expect anything on iPhone to be as popular as something which has been out there for decades? iPhone will most probably have more than one. Rolando is a good contender. Give the AppStore a couple more years and we`ll have quite a few good platformers as good as(probably even better) than any other handheld out there. Btw, it`ll be unfair to compare sonic and mario to anything on the iPhone. Both were first party titles. So in that sense apple might never have one as I dont think we`ll see apple developing such a game at all. But now that I think about it, how cool would that be if Apple DOES come out with such a game
SuperTux, a shameless Mario clone, being ported now to iPhone and iPod Touch. For now, I would have to say Bounce On.
Castle of Magic is the closest game to Mario / Sonic / Alex Kid IMO. But if you're thinking of something that is typically 'iPhone' as in what the platform is known for then I'd go for Match 3's, Flashlight, Fart apps, and of course light sabre things
Shame it has to be Rolando. Show that to an unsuspecting member of the public and they'll think it's Loco Roco... all the credit lost to Sony.
