I noticed recently that forum member, Hodapp, had been promoted to Super Mod (congrats btw), and was wondering what the difference between a mod and a super mod were. It isn't in the FAQ or anything, and I was wondering what the difference between these two classes of moderator were. I have noticed them on other forums, but never knew the difference. I do know that mods can give infractions, so can super mods ban people. I don't understand. This is mostly for arn and Hodapp.
Mods can ban people too. I would like Hodapp to answer the Super bit myself, as I haven't got a clue and wasn't told about it. I would also like to know why he is allowed an avatar.
I don't know why that would be. Maybe I'll get an answer. I mean, it is odd. I'm guessing that it does have something to do with him writing reviews, since he is relatively new. I mean, he joined this month. ZOMFG. That is definately not fair. I want an avatar.
See, this is the problem with selected users, wether they be admin or Super Mods or who ever, being authorized to have avatars, when everyone else can't. Why wasn't his Super Mod title announced anywhere? Even I found out by chance!

I do feel Hodapp's new position should have had a better introduction than this. When we (SalsaMD, NotYou, and myself) became mods we have a thread started to announce the occasion. Hodapp hasn't had this. Instead we have this thread asking about his new title etc etc. It should have been announced, especially to us 'lesser' mods.

Really. It is very strange. There is nothing in the FAQ about Super Mods. I looked it up in the vBulletin website and came up with nothing. I think that it isn't fair to devoted "lesser" mods to have someone who joined this month to have more power than them. I know. We get told nothing, and I see Hodapp moving threads, and with an avatar. And a new title. I don't know what this is. Usually a nice arn sanctioned thread or something happens to announce these things.
let's give blake and arn some time. me thinks they're on a flight to SFO right now. maybe hodapp is not in a position to disclose some things. although i'd figure a little heads up to at least the mods would suffice.
from a privledges standpoint, supermod and moderator have the same abilities. from a vbulletin standpoint there are some differences, but we don't distinguish here. I just picked the wrong item from the picklist. will fix it when I get into SF. arn
