I'm just curious when we can expect to see some? Would it be safe to assume that after a point in the near future all games will use Metal or is their a reason for developers to not? Anywhere we can find a list of games being developed specifically with said IP up until said point is reached? I'm eager for some more AAA console quality games. Personally pickins seem a bit slim as of late. Eager to see what these new iPhones can do!
I'm kind of hopeful that something like X-Com will get an update with Metal support but it probably won't.
I've just gotten an iPad Air 2 and would love to know this too - is there a list of recommended apps that'll really show what our new kit can do? Or a list of apps that have been updated to use metal?
just want to let you in on something. UE3 (which runs Xcom and a plethora of iOS games) does not support Metal. But, UE4 does and to see UE4 and Metal in action, download Zen Garden from the AppStore. @Hardbattle, Asphalt 8 uses Metal as does Plunder Pirates, both good games you could try.
Thanks for the suggestions guys - I'll download a few and see what I think. Maybe a thread sticky with a list would be a good idea... No idea how to do that mind
So,it's really the Metal stuff kicking in @Battle Supremacy? I was wondering how much better it looks now on Air 2 (compared to my Mini Retina). Not that it was an ugly game before but now it has a beautiful smooth framerate and a lot of new (smoke, fire, particle) FX. Two other Metal games i recommend: Defenders von NIVAL, INC. https://appsto.re/de/wOWdP.i Beach Buggy Racing von Vector Unit https://appsto.re/de/RqbL0.i
That Zen Garden app is a really bad showcase for Metal. There are plenty of games that look better than that without using Metal.
Let's not forget Oceanhorn update next month that will add together with other things also METAL support.
Where it's write that FDG add Metal Support?i know of december update for iPhone 6,6 plus, and iPad air 2,with enanched graphics and 60fps,but i've not read about they use The Metal Api for The update..
I was looking for a list of games too. I'm surprised there's not a running updated list somewhere on toucharcade.
